New Media Marketing Fun and Games
Welcome back!
It has been a manic time since Christmas when I decided to get this project sorted out once and for all..new new media world is launched at last!
OK I always wanted to do something around new media / social media focusing on traffic and promotion and I had been working on it for some time. I had the domain for a while and it was intended to be a book for print which I still intend to do, but an ebook was the obvious initial choice. Videos obviously made the whole experience much easier so I created about 20 of those.
When I was looking for testimonials and feedback I sent a few review copies to Internet Marketers via facebook (I had met them before) which obviously makes things a lot easier – hence..why you should go to Seminars!
When Scott Paton then said he wanted to interview me for his very well known podcast (interview here), I was naturally stoked, but at the same time an idea which had been lurking for quite a while re-surfaced and I asked to interview him as well. I wanted to get a selection of interviews with experts within new media and marketing to really improve the product.
I really started to enjoy the interviews, despite been a bit nervous and unsure initially..and of course what a great way to cement relationships and make contacts – not to mention creating a product!
Garry Parkes kindly highlighted me as an example of a success of Alex Jeffreys coaching program – Thanks again Garry! – you can read that post here: Student Success
Also MASSIVE thanks to Valerie McDavis, another student of Alex Jeffreys who helped me proofread and pointed out parts of the book that needed more explaination and improvement, making it a much better product than it would have been.
Les Heywood, who works with me on many projects, helped with banners, elements of the ebook and marketing.

No.1 in Google in 24 Hours – A case study
Here’s a good example of how following a few simple steps, spending say 2 – 3 hours can reap exciting rewards by ranking #1 in Google inside 24 hours.
The search phrase was a pretty competitive one for ‘web prosperity’ . Web Prosperity is an MLM program with a main product suite aimed at Internet Marketers – which at the time of writing (during its pre-launch) is receiving sign ups every few seconds with 5,100,000 results for this search term and a lot of attention and buzz.

The first thing is to consider the domain name. Unless we are dealing with your own brand or something consider the top keyword phrase as the domain – in this case I chose webprosperityreview.org.uk (most were gone by the time I got around to it) – I wanted to use a .org because it seems they can rank pretty well but I’m not sure it makes too much difference. As the .org for this was gone I went for .org.uk
Naturally I went for the wordpress blog option for content on the domain and spent an hour or say putting together a couple of blog posts about the program as well as adding categories named with the key phrase in such as web prosperity review etc.
Next I added my essential plug ins including ‘All in 1 SEO’, Google XML Sitemaps, ‘Related Posts’, ‘Sociable’ and ‘Statpress’. There are others that should be installed that I’ve covered in another post but I didn’t in this case.
I created one remote wordpress blog at wordpress.com and a Squidoo lens linking back to the blog using the key phrase ‘web prosperity’ and including that phrase as the names and titles.
Next I drafted a press release just covering the basic details of the program and submitted it to pr-inside.com
Next it was a quick visit to animoto.com (animoto video tutorial here) to create a video using images and graphics and uploaded this straight to youtube.com. Following that I used heyspread.com to distribute the video to 19 other video directories.
The next task was to socially bookmark the blog myself using socialmarker.com (socialmarker video tutorial here) as well as another 30 bookmarks through my outsourcer and blog carnival submissions. Interestingly, these last two tasks have not been completed at the time of writing.
That’s it! Today the site is no.1 – whether this will hold up without further work is doubtful, but the point is not to work too hard.
The stats (using statpress) also show a lot of traffic – as seen below. Remember this is just a two day old blog!

I’m aware that this isn’t going to work with every niche and keyphrase and most will need a lot more work than this. Other case studies I’ve done recently have had similar results though, so until Google change things I guess this is the way to go.
All these strategies are covered in great detail in my upcoming ebook ‘New New Media World’ in an easy to follow step by step process and guide. If you are interested in reviewing the first draft copy and giving me a testimonial (If you think it is worthy) to appear on the sales page then contact me.
Please note: All figures are correct at the time of writing – these may/will change over time
New Media Ebook Project
Aaahh I feel great after a solid period of time off over Crimbo and really enjoyed it this year! 2009 is nearly upon us so now is the time to make those plans and make sure they get done!!
One of my major problems over previous years is taking too much on, and not seeing stuff through to the end. I soon got over the latter problem, but one project which I have been working on and off on for quite a while now is a book focusing on new media strategies for traffic and sales.
These have been in the guise of 3 reports at new new media world, but now I want to get it all together into one volume and get some feedback!
If you are interested in getting a first draft copy please contact me.
I’m looking for actual feedback and testimonials – if you honestly think it is deserved!I will be giving you something of high value in return.
Many Thanks!
