New Media Ebook Project

December 30, 2008 · Filed Under Projects · 7 Comments

Welcome back!

Aaahh I feel great after a solid period of time off over Crimbo and really enjoyed it this year! 2009 is nearly upon us so now is the time to make those plans and make sure they get done!!

One of my major problems over previous years is taking too much on, and not seeing stuff through to the end. I soon got over the latter problem, but one project which I have been working on and off on for quite a while now is a book focusing on new media strategies for traffic and sales.

These have been in the guise of 3 reports at new new media world, but now I want to get it all together into one volume and get some feedback!

If you are interested in getting a first draft copy please contact me.

I’m looking for actual feedback and testimonials – if you honestly think it is deserved!I will be giving you something of high value in return.

Many Thanks!

Turn off at Christmas and enjoy the break

December 24, 2008 · Filed Under Mindset · 5 Comments

Well it is Christmas eve and I’ll soon be shutting down the computer for a few days.  having a complete break from the ‘tube’ is recommended at the best of times and can clear things up in your mind when you do return to it. I like to think of it as giving the sub-concious mind a break, this is when it works the best and eureka moments more likely pop up.

So this year has been another whirlwind. 2007 was pretty mad, like getting married, jumping out of an aeroplane on a skydive! 2008 was more consolidating – focusing solely on my business. Although the road can be slow and seem like a constant uphill slog, there have been a few breakthroughs.

I’ve learnt a lot more again and coming onto Alex’s program and focused me more than ever – the real benefits is of course meeting and getting to know all the other future stars – the other students.

I’ve learnt too this year that I really need to focus on one project at a time without exceptions. Sometimes I have been involved in more than 5 different projects with different partners at the same time. This does no good whatsoever to delivering a fully focused and profitable project.

Learn from your mistakes that is the most important thing, everybody makes them.

Anyway have to run – have a great Christmas everyone!

Social Bookmarking for Traffic and Backlinks

December 21, 2008 · Filed Under Traffic Systems, social bookmarking · 7 Comments

Social bookmarking is another way to get backlinks and traffic to your website. There are a ton of Social bookmarking sites out there but the best way is to go via Socialmarker.com or onlywire.com and set up all the accounts – then when you submit your blog post it will fire through the whole process a lot faster than if you did it individually.

Also check out web2submitter and the video there.

Here are some bookmarking services for your reference:

Remote Content Traffic System

December 19, 2008 · Filed Under Traffic Systems · 1 Comment

Getting content out on the web can be pretty time consuming with creating content, but in terms of backlinks it’s essential. When you link back to your ‘money’ site or blog with your targetted keyword phrase you are helping your own index ranking for that phrase in Google and other search engines.

So you might want to rank highly for the phrase ‘Mailing List Supreme’ then your anchor text in your links needs to say that search term as opposed to a web address.

<a href=”yourdomain.com”>Mailing List Supreme</a>

The key is to choose a keyword phrase that is not too highly competitive. ‘Marketing’ for example has 780 million results and too many big players for you to stand a chance of ranking well. More about keyword research here.

Join hubpages and again create a series of hubs all with relevant content and modules. Try to vary the content from the Squidoo lenses – Google will know if you’re just duplicating content.

Syndicated Articles for Traffic

December 19, 2008 · Filed Under Traffic Systems · 3 Comments

Traffic – the lifeblood of all on the Internet. There are many many ways to get traffic, so let’s break it down..first up is Article Marketing. Articles with a resource box linking back to your website can be syndicated out across many websites as webmasters go to these sites to find content to publish. One of the rules is that publishers must keep the resource boxes intact, which means more backlinks and visitors for you! Usually this is the only place you are allowed to place links, not in the article itself, although there are exceptions.

Articles are typically 300-500 words and should identify a problem and partly solve it in the article. You must give your readers a strong reason to click through to your website from the resource box – so a strong call to action is required – that is create a tempting or pain solving reason for the reader to click.

Another tactic could be to break up your article into two parts and have the resource entice readers to your blog to read part 2.

Article Directories to submit to:

Of course you may not fancy yourself as a writer or not want to spend so much time doing articles and as a marketer online you should get articles written for you as soon as you can so you can concentrate on your business. Luckily there are plenty of article writers out there, here are some resource sites that I use:

Finding your Ideal Keywords

December 19, 2008 · Filed Under Keyword Research · 1 Comment

Firstly you will need to know what keyword you are targeting and whether there is search engine demand for that keyword, secondly whether there is a manageable number of search engines results to make it worthwhile trying to compete.

If you are selling information on dog training for example then your anchor text in your links needs to say that search term as opposed to a web address.

<a href=”yourdomain.com”>Dog training</a>

With some quality content written you can create a network of blog posts, articles, press releases and social marketing content. Advanced marketers may vary the anchor text keyword. You will also find different social media sites have different ways of creating anchor text links, some allow HTML code, some don’t.

Research
Go to:
http://tools.seobook.com/keyword-tools/seobook/

type in a keyword related to your niche. I.e. dog training
then look for longer tail keywords that have a decent amount of daily searches in the Google column.

Take that search term and paste into the Google search box in quotes and look at the amount of results found on the right hand side. If it’s around 30,000 and below and had 30+ searches a day then it’ll be easier to target.

You can also use:
Keywordspy.com to see what your competitors are up to.
http://www.keywordsanalyzer.com/
http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com/

When you have two or three good keywords that describe your product or service well use these in a pack of content for distribution.

Create an article with the keyword in the title (not too long) and integrate it in the body two or three times. Then create a compelling resource box with an keyword anchored link to your money page.
Create a couple of compelling blog posts, again using a different keyword for each one. Make sure your images and alt tags also reflect your keywords. Google uses various different databases such as images, video, blogs, news etc so keyworded images, for example will be picked up. So called Google Universal search is beginning to display content from the different databases in the main search results.

Start 2009 with a List Building Blitz

I think this one is going to be good. I’ve had some success with giveaways in the past, the best adding nearly 400 subscribers to my list. Sure there will be a lot of freebie seekers hitting this, they always do on giveaways but building the relationship will bring out a certain percentage on your side.

There are also some cash prizes up to $1000 for the most referrals which is a nice incentive. Not only that, but there are other prizes to be won for 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and even 5th place!

When you join up as a contributor you will be asked to upgrade for $47 – this gives you 100 points which you can exchange for uploading a report/ebook (get viral people) or whatever you want to give away. You can exchange points for banners which display around the site or special offers that are offered to users logging in on a rotational basis.

I’ve been involved in a few of these, some bad, some completely confusing, this looks like one of the best I’ve seen and Guido Nussbaum, co-promoter, has been involved in the better ones.

Social Marker Video Tutorial

December 16, 2008 · Filed Under social bookmarking · 5 Comments

Social Bookmarking is where people share their bookmarks online and search engines love em! Plus you get the benefit of links to your site. The strategy here is to bookmark general sites you are interested in as well as your own – otherwise you are at risk of having your account shut down!

Socialmarker enables you to whip through a long list of social sites giving your blog added exposure. Initially you’ll have to set up accounts but once that is done it becomes a lot easier.
